2018 STOP Girl Trafficking dinner

“She’s more than just a doctor, she’s a superwoman.” – Jon Krakauer on Dr. Aruna Uprety

Thank you all for making our 2018 STOP Girl Trafficking dinner such a success! With your support (and our say #NOtoNorbu campaign!), we were able to raise much needed funds that will help keep thousands of Nepali girls in school and safe from trafficking.

It was a moving evening with three extraordinary speakers whose work and lives empower women all around the world. From Dawa Yangzum Sherpa’s difficult journey to become an elite climber and guide, to Rebecca Solnit fighting to give women a place at the table, and finally Dr. Aruna Uprety (dubbed superwoman by Jon Krakauer) who is leading the struggle to keep girls safe in Nepal.

The message of the evening is summed up quite well with this quote from Dawa:

“My hope is this small success of mine will inspire other girls to follow their passions. I hope that they believe that if they follow their passions with determination, grit, and education, anything’s possible” – Dawa Yangzum Sherpa
