Hard work, good karma.
Recently in Lo Manthang, an unusually heavy downpour caused a landslide that blocked a vital irrigation canal, leaving the town without water.
The collapse coincided with the start of the annual harvest, and after two days of trying to clear the landslide, the townsfolk could spare no more time – they had to get to their fields. So they asked the monks of the Lo Manthang Monastic School to lend a hand.
About 30 monks rolled up their, err … robes and spent the day removing the rest of the partially collapsed cliff and clearing the canal of debris. Younger monks foraged in the nearby hills for fresh Sea Buckthorne berries to refresh those on the digging detail. By late afternoon the monks completed their good deed and water once again flowed to the village. And the townsfolk were happy again.
