Health, Happiness, and Dignity on the vine!
For the more than 2,300 Tibetan refugees who live in the Dhargyelling Tibetan Settlement in Tezu, India, joy and comfort can be found ripening on the vine!
Established nearly fifty years ago, Tezu is now home to 245 families. They and their forebears fled the Chinese occupation of their homeland and were forced to settle in this remote region. The hot, wet jungle was a real adjustment for people used to living on the "roof of the world," but over time they were able to make a comfortable life far from home.
No where is this more obvious than in the gardens. Here Tibetan elders lovingly tend their crops each year, providing nutritious food to the settlement, and the pride of accomplishment for a group who have seen much suffering in their days. They are particularly fond of their tomatoes, which grow row upon row in the camp greenhouse.
AHF has supported the Dhargyelling Tibetan Settlement (including the greenhouse!) for over six years. It doesn't take much to bring dignity and comfort to Tibetans in exile - but it means so much to them.
Keep health, happiness, and dignity for Tibetans strong in Tezu. Join us today.
