A love letter to the AHF family and friends

Dear Friends,

This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Tsewang Bista from Mustang, Nepal to our office in San Francisco. Tsewang-la is with the Lo Gyalpo Jigme Foundation, AHF’s great partner in Mustang for the past 25 years. Over many cups of tea, he reflected on all that we have been accomplishing - from reviving a treasured heritage on the verge of collapse to bringing education and basic healthcare, and now climate resilience, to the former Kingdom of Lo.

We have stayed the course in Mustang, as we have done with our other partnerships, among them Sir Edmund Hillary’s Himalayan Trust, Dr. Banskota at the Hospital and Rehabilitation Center for Disabled Children, Dr. Aruna Uprety with STOP Girl Trafficking and other Himalayan communities. These enduring and treasured relationships are based on trust, local leadership and commitment, and our shared vision of helping those in need who have no one else.

Your trust in our work keeps us on our feet. The confluence of your kindness and the tireless work of our partners is the real source of inspiration that keeps us going, always forward. – Norbu Tenzing

During the year, we do our best to stay connected with you by sharing stories and photos of the impact we have, and the lives that have been changed - all because of you. We feel deeply privileged to be entrusted with your support and belief in us. It makes everything we do possible. As we all enter the new decade, we aspire to do better what we do and be in tune with the new challenges in an ever-changing Himalaya. Your trust in our work keeps us on our feet. The confluence of your kindness and the tireless work of our partners is the real source of inspiration that keeps us going, always forward.

Along with the new decade, this year of the Rat is the beginning of the 12-year cycle in the lunar calendar. We wish you good health, good fortune and hope that you will stay on the journey ahead both in the Himalaya and in San Francisco, where the door is always open for a cup of tea if you’re in the neighborhood.

Best wishes,

Norbu Tenzing
